Austria, an Industrial Country

Industry is the driver of innovation and growth in our country. Directly and indirectly, industry generates over 59% of Austrian value added and exports goods worth approx. EUR 15,000 per inhabitant and year. Austrian industry directly and indirectly provides jobs for more than 2 million people in Austria.

Industry contributes to the sustainable preservation of wealth in our country. The private sector accounts for more than 62% of all research and development expenditure, with over 70% of that coming from industrial enterprises.

Moreover, industry spends an annual total of EUR 1.2 billion on environmental protection, thus investing substantially in our future quality of life.
